Multi-Function Tribometers
MFT-2000 Compact Multi-Function Tribometer
The MFT-2000 is a compact tribometer and bench top friction and wear tester designed for labs that need reliable tribological measurements without a large instrument footprint. It runs rotary, linear reciprocating, and block on ring tests on a single modular tribometer benchtop platform, with servo down-force control and an optional integrated 3D optical profilometer included.
KEY FEATURES
Automated Force Control for nano and micro tribology
The MFT-2000 covers a load range from nano-Newtons to 100 N using interchangeable patented capacitive force sensors. Automatic load cell detection enables real-time force control with high resolution and negligible thermal drift — supporting precise tribology testing from ultra-light thin-film contacts to standard coating and lubricant evaluations.
Rotary, Reciprocating, Block on Ring configuration on same platform
Interchangeable fast-exchange test modules allow multiple tribological tests to be performed on the same platform, including rotary, reciprocating, and Block-on-Ring configurations. This modular design enables quick setup changes, increases laboratory efficiency, and provides flexible testing capabilities for evaluating friction and wear under different contact conditions and experimental requirements.
Automated XY Positioning
An integrated motorized XY stage for accurate positioning, the system supports repeatable track placement, advanced test strategies, and multiple measurements on a single sample for efficient tribological analysis. In addition these stages allows to stitch the entire wear mark when used with integrated 3D profilometer.
In-Line 3D Inspection - See Wear as It Happens
An optional patented in-line 3D optical profilometer provides real-time surface analysis with nanometer resolution. It enables precise monitoring of wear, volume loss, and surface evolution during testing. This capability allows users to observe surface changes directly throughout the experiment, improving understanding of wear mechanisms and material performance over time.

Tribology, Indentation, Scratch Modules
The MFT-2000 is built on an open-platform architecture that allows it to interchange tribology (friction, wear), nano indentation (hardness, modulus) and scratch heads (adhesion) on same platform. With integrated sensors such as acoustic, contact resistance the mft-2000 tribometer allows for comprehensive analysis of surface mechanics on same platform. Furthermore, the MFT-2000 Multi Fucntion Tribometer supports advanced sensing technologies for broader application.
Patented 2D Force Sensors
High-resolution two-dimensional sensors measure friction force and normal load simultaneously, capturing both components of the tribological contact in a single measurement. Unlike systems that measure each force independently with separate sensors, the MFT-2000’s patented design acquires both signals at the same point in time, eliminating any phase offset or cross-talk between channels. The result is more accurate friction coefficient data across the full range of test conditions. Moreover, researchers value the MFT-2000 Multi Fucntion Tribometer for its precise force measurement capabilities.
The patented sensor design delivers exceptional repeatability and long-term stability, making it well suited for demanding applications in lubricant evaluation, coating characterization, and biomaterial tribology. Its high resolution allows detection of subtle changes in friction behavior—such as the onset of lubrication film breakdown or the effect of surface texture—that lower-sensitivity systems would miss. Whether running routine screening or detailed mechanistic studies, the 2D force sensor provides the measurement quality needed to draw confident conclusions from tribological data.
