What is A Biotribometer?

Biological tribosystems differ significantly in many aspects from mechanical tribosystems, e.g. stiffness, range of coefficient of friction down to 10-5 (super-lubricity), lower Hertzian contact stresses, low sliding speed, etc.), which require specific and adapted tribometers for meaningful and transferable results.

Biotribometers are biotribology instruments that study friction and wear of biomaterials in a large range of biological conditions. They are critical in the research and development of biomedical products and devices systems, such as hip joints, catheter, or contact lenses, but also for haptics of touchscreen devices and cosmetics. Rtec Instruments biotribometers provide the data and versatility to test all types of biotribology tests.
